Adam Blue is destined to be a rockstar. As lead singer of Viral Blue, he knows it's just a matter of time before he's on his way to fame and fortune. If he can just get a studio to sign his band and get his songs on the radio, he knows he'll make it big.

When they land a spot onstage at a popular nightclub downtown, Adam hopes to get noticed. But he doesn't expect to meet sexy Paulo Raucci, owner of Raucci Entertainment, a local studio looking for fresh talent. Paul likes Adam's sound and, more importantly, likes Adam, as well.

But when Paul brings the band into the studio, his partner Lewis isn't quite as taken with Adam's rockstar attitude. Lewis doesn't want to sign the band until Adam proves he's willing to work. Unfortunately, the band takes second priority to Adam's growing interest Paul ... an interest that has nothing to do with his musical career.

The stress of recording their first studio album threatens to tear the band apart, and Adam's ego further drives a wedge between the members of Viral Blue. Paul does his best to keep the band together, but ultimately it's Adam's call.

Adam wants it all -- his band, his first record, and his new lover. Now that his dreams are finally within reach, what does he have to do to make them come true?

The books I've read by this author have always had an edge that unsettled me. Maybe they didn't work completely for me, but they always made me feel. In this book I couldn't connect at all with one of the protagonists, Adam, the wannabe rockstar. I can buy the artist's ego, but he tramples on everyone's feelings, and I'm not sure he really learned his lesson at the end. I was rooting against him the whole time. The story is cute - artist/studio rep - but the first part was too slow and the last part was confusing. No one - not the musicians, not the studio guys - behaved professionally, and I couldn't see the artist's drive to perform and produce his art. Apart from wanting to become a rockstar to be heard by a lot of people, there was no strive for expression through music, I didn't feel Adam had something to tell, so I couldn't support his dream, not even in fiction. What didn't help was that both Adam and Paol didn't look their ages, they seemed closer to adolescents. The big conflict between Adam and the owner of the studio, because of their alleged big egos, simply seemed a contest of who was being the biggest @$$. Adam needed to be brought down a couple or a couple hundred notches, but Lewis was being a little kid with someone who could bring him a lot of money. I couldn't believe it.

Personal preference: I think Paolo Raucci is vaguely of Italian origin. No one would shorten the name to Paol, it sounds so wrong, but maybe it doesn't in English, but it was hard to read, I pretended it was Paul.

Also, you might want to know the book is written in 3rd person present tense. It doesn't bother me, but I know people who don't like it.

Rockstar edition by JM Snyder Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I wanted to like this story as I generally enjoy fiction about rock musicians, and gay romances. But I just found Adam Blue far too obnoxious and unlikable a lead character to care what happened to him. He's not just a "bad boy", but he's completely egotistical, rude, self-centered and has to constantly be reminded the world doesn't revolve around him. As such it was hard for me to get really into the romance/lust between Paol and Adam and care what happened to them. Truthfully I liked the supporting band characters, Trace and Mike, a lot more and kind of wanted to see them dump Adam to find a new lead singer!

That said the writing and editing itself was fine, I just couldn't get past Adam's ego.
Adam Blue is a little rockstar in the progress, he has not still the fame of a rockstar but for sure he has all the attitude. And he is not even so young, 23 years old are almost too much to still play of being an adult, but well, Adam is so cute that you forgive him almost everything.

One thing for sure, even if he is not yet famous, Adam is convinced that success is right there, around the corner, and that he will reach it sooner than later. It's almost cute to read him, 23 years old still living at home, who steals petty money from his mother's change jar, and yet he has an ego that is bigger than an house. It probably helps to his ego that Adam, even if he tries to conceal his cute look with a shaved head, it's not quite able to hide it all. And another thing that goes with his ego is his self-consciousness Adam is g ay and if someone as something against it, well, it's not his problem.

When Adam meets older Paol, the reader probably is expecting for Paol to be the leader in the relationship, he is older, successful, he is the one that probably will manage to rein Adam. But the reader has not taken in account that Paol is not a man driven by the need to be in command. You have already a prove knowing that Paol decided to sell half of his production company to Lewis, probably since, while he likes to find new talents, he has no probably the strength to lead a company all alone.

And so the first impression the reader has of Paol, a bit of a latin lover, maybe even a little bit of a teaser, it's soon corrected Paol is a real romantic, he still believes in true love, he is not at all a macho man, on the contrary, he is even a little scared when men are too pushing with him. In a way, Adam and Paol are perfect together, since Paol not being a prima donna allows Adam to be always in centre stage in the relationship, but being Paol also older, and with a bit more experience on his shoulder, he is a good balance for Adam and his rollercoast mood.

Rockstar is more sweet than expected; even the s ex, that by the way happens later in the story than what I thought at first, is not so graphic or detailed. Adam and Paol are not so young, but all in all, when facing their love relationship, they seem younger, not quite "virgins" but almost. It's like if they were newbie at love if not in life.
